REBELWOOD ROMPS TO VALIANT VICTORY
The crowds flocked to the Boughrood meeting under BHRC rules at sun-kissed Allensmore for an action-packed eleven-race card.
There were some cheering victories in the open heats. John Jones' stalwart Bobby Dazzle blazed out of the gate with Roy Wilson to cruise home in the first one, and Roy later clocked up a double with Joss Davies' Dalis in the Improver/ Intermediate. Cliff Beaumont-Dowse's Billy Baron has proved to be an 'autumn horse' in previous years and would not be gainsayed in heat two, storming into an unassailable lead.
Peter Preston's Joe Hill is a class performer, and he put his problems behind him to career away with the third heat in impressive fashion. Arthur Parsons' High Heel Kerry Boy made a successful raid with Steve Lees to narrowly snatch the final division and qualify for the £500 Final.
But in the fast and furious final, it was the backmarker, Rebelwood (Mark Pritchard) who sprinted off his thirty yard handicap in a style reminiscent of his sire, Stoneriggs JR for a glorious victory. Having been narrowly beaten earlier in the week at Tir Prince raceway despite recording a breath-taking time, it was fitting consolation for owner/trainer Dick Price of Glasbury.
Bruce Williams' Look Sharpe is another who takes time to come to himself, and did so with good effect to graduate to open company with the under-rated Terry Laventure, while David Bevan notched up another win towards the Wales & West drivers title with JR's Replica in a maiden division.  Winforton trainer, Mark Lloyd has painstakingly produced Shermans Pasha in the qualifiers, and reaped just rewards when partnering the gelding to a convincing triumph on his climb through the novice grades.
Next fixture: Ladies Day at Leominster, Sunday 2 p.m.
